These sessions will be led by Eve Stainton. Eve is an artist and choreographer who creates multi-disciplinary performances that involve movement practices, welded steel/live welding, digital collage, and other invisible forces like drama and suspense. In these sessions Eve will be offering movement practices that encourage a heightened sense of perception in the body, often working with time based ideas; slowing things down and ‘eeking’ things out. Eve is interested in how movement can create atmospheres of suspense inside the body, and how suspense can be choreographed or constructed in between people and the room. Some of the class material will be linked to research from Eve’s project Impact Driver. The ideas will be introduced like tasks. We will explore things in relation to sound. Some of the tasks will involve touch and working in partners or groups, everything can be adapted or modified.

Disclaimer from Lorea: I am aware Sadlers Wells is in partnership with Barclays, a bank that is actively arming, supporting and profiting from Israel's apartheid regime against Palestinians. The Rose Choreographic School is hosted by Sadler’s Wells but is not funded by Barclays. Though we cannot disentangle ourselves completely from this complicity, I am actively engaged in the campaign against Barclays and the genocide and am involved conversations asking the institution to drop its ties.
